Dr. Patro at SFC

LAA Saturday Free Clinic Sponsorship Campaign is proving to be a big success. Till August, 2006, we have received sponsorships from 39 individuals and businesses covering 145 weeks. That takes care of the finance for the Clinic till November 2008.

Earlier the Clinic was funded through membership funds, fixed deposit interests and far and few between donations. The funding was always uncertain and we could never be sure as to how far we could pull it. The uncertainty needed to be replaced with a more widespread and assured supply of funds. The Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) Treasurer, Pratim Banerjee, conceived the new funding scheme and the Executive Committee decided to execute it.

Pharmacist at Clinic

The LAA run Saturday Free Clinic received a record number of 302 patients on Saturday, August 5, 2006. This is the highest number of patients that it has attended to in its nearly two decades of uninterrupted service.

During monsoon the number of patients visiting their physicians peaks. LAA was also trying to keep up with more than the usual load in the past few weeks, but August 5th was tha highest so far in its history. The Clinic was managing 100-150 patients in th past. This figure gradually rose to 180-200 patients in the last 6 months.
