Dr. Surojit De, '66, one of the founding members of Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) and the Saturday Free Clinic, passed away today in December 31, 2011. He was suffering with cancer of the throat for the last couple of years.

Mr. Rama Shankar Pandey was the longest serving teacher of LoyolaSchool. He was invited by Fr. Cecil Leeming, the founder of theSchool. Fr, Leeming had met him at St. Xaviers, Calcutta, from where Dr. Pandey had appeared for his B.A. examinations. Before joining Loyola he was teaching at North Point, Darjeeling.

Fr. Richard W. Norman, SJ, also fondly called Sam, passed away on on Monday, September 12, 2011, in Wernersville, Pennsylvania. Fr. Norman was was the Rector at Loyola from 1979-82 and taught maths and physics. Besides Loyola, at  XLRI, where he was the Superior from 1972-76 and later Director during 1981-83, he was involved in the construction of the early buildings and the faculty accommodation.

Fr. Joseph M Kennedy SJ, who was the Rector at Loyola from 1962-67 and again from 1976-79, died in the US on February 12, 2012. Besides Loyola, he was also a Director of XLRI from 1970-73 and also worked in Patna. He was 88. The following obituary was published in the Baltimore Sun.,0,3840265.story

Fr. Eugene Power, SJ, passed away on 1st of January 2012 in USA. He was staying at the Jesuit infirmary, Manresa Hall, in Philadelphia with other Jesuit colleages and friends, some from Loyola School, Jamshedpur. He was exceptional English teacher to batches from the fifties to eighties. Outside the class, he was seen before and after school managing the traffic at the school gates with the traffic management volunteers in red sashes. He is probably the most remembered Jesuit of Loyola from the early decades.
