Loyola School, Jamshedpur was started in January 1947 and Fr. Cecil Leeming, S.J. was its first principal. The Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) really began with the graduation of the first student, T. Srinivasan, in 1951.

Power comes from the deeds of a man

Father Eugene Power taught English language and literature at Loyola School , Jamshedpur , for several decades. Generations of students benefited from his erudition, his sense of duty to those committed to his charge, and the imagination he effortlessly employed to make his classes a treat not to be missed for anything. The Brothers Chatterjee – Goutam, Bhaskar and yours truly – felt/feel privileged to have been taught by this towering figure.

Loyola Alumni Association in 1988

Fr. Rocky Vaz, SJ, Principal 1983-87, was key person who brought together the Loyola old boys and formed the Loyola Alumni Association (LAA) in the 1980s. In 1988, he printed a folder describing the beginnings of the School and LAA, it's initial activities and founder members. A very interesting document.
