![]() Charlie Pereira What Loyola has done over fifty years — “in caritate et justitia”, that is, in love and fairness towards all — is to create, in the city of jamshedpur, a culture of excellence and hard work. Loyola has been, what we Jesuits call, “magis”, a term meaning a constant and relentless struggle to go beyond, to push further and further the contours of our own limitations. Fifty years is a long time in the life of an institution and I feel glad that Loyola has made its mark on the city’s psyche. Today’s Loyola symbolises the nobility of search of the human spirit under the guidance of the Divine. It is God who ultimately reveals the depths of our resources and strengthens our spirits to strive to ever higher levels of excellence. If Loyola is what it is today, it is because of the excellent men and women who have staffed the School over the past fifty years. It is also because of the men and women who have been trained there all these years. It is also because Loyola’s patron, St. Ignatius, taught us how to strive for “magis, in caritate etjustitia”. May God bless Loyola yet more, may God bless the students, alumni, the staff and the administration. Jamshedpur Jesuit Province Charlie Pereira, SJ |
