Dear Parents,

As the academic year draws to a close, it is time to introspect on the year gone by. It has been a mixed year for Loyola. Our students, who are our greatest treasure, have won many laurels for the school. We have had our share of sad moments, but emerged out of them stronger.

Mrs Banoo Damodiwalla who has served our school for over 25 years will be leaving our school on superannuation. The school will miss a dedicated and sincere Librarian who instilled the love for books in our students.

206 of our students will appear for the ICSE and another 203 for the ISC Examinations in February and March. May God shower his choicest blessings on them!

A few important points to be noted for the next academic year

  • In order to take care of the salary revision of teachers as well as the rising costs there will be a fee hike of approximately 15% of the monthly fee. As parents who will leave no stone unturned in their effort to provide the best education to their children, I am sure you will not grudge the nominal increase in the fee.
  • As we are all aware, the burden of examinations and the learning by rote to pass in the examinations is taking its toll on students. Continuous assessment is becoming more and more popular. In line with this trend, from the academic year 2010 — 2011 onwards, there will be two examinations — a mid term in Sept/Oct. and the Final Term in February. However there will be continuous assessments to ensure the students are in constant touch with their lessons.
  • The subject Environmental Education had been introduced as per the directives of the ISC Council. However, the Council has now said that the subject would be interwoven with other subjects and hence need not be considered as a separate paper for the students appearing for the ICSE 2013. Hence we have done away with the subject EVS for classes, VI, VII and VIII.
  • We all agree that education must not be purely academic, instead must concentrate on all-round development of the child. Punctuality and cleanliness are an integral part of holistic development. It is the duty of the parents to ensure that their children are neatly dressed, in full and proper school uniform, and reach school on time, Shabbily dressed students do not belong to Loyola. Henceforth, the school gates shall close five minutes after the warning bell and latecomers will have to turn around and go home. No excuse will be admissible in this matter.
  • Parents are requested to kindly go through the school diary and familiarise themselves with the School’s Rules and Regulations.
