Page 3 of 3 Thank you sincerely for your compliments. I have received many sms', e-mails and phone calls that it will be impossible for me to write a personal letter to each one. Please bear with me. The meeting with the President on 5th Sept. lasted a few seconds, but the memory will linger for ever in my mind. In his address he spoke about four teachers who have influenced him. Out of them two were Jesuits. While receiving the award, he heard "SJ" after my name; he politely said, "Father I studied in a Jesuit College". For me this was the proudest moment as a Jesuit Educationist! St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, wanted to set the "world on fire" with God?s Love. I am convinced that there is no better way to do this to our future citizens than thro' our classrooms! I would like to thank God as He has been too kind to me. The credit for my recognition goes to the Society of Jesus to which I belong, to the Teachers who have stood by me thro' thick and thin, and to my Children who have shaped me as a teacher. It is to them that I owe all my success. Warm Regards. and God Bless You! Fr. Pius Fernandes, SJ De Nobili School |
