Dear Parents,

Loyola School’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations were closed with the heart-warming opera “The Sound of Music” directed by our own Dr. Amit Chatterjee, ably supported by our teachers. The performance of our students - from KG to Std. XII - was outstanding. I would like to express my deep gratitude to you for your support and the help you have given for the Diamond Jubilee Projects.

In a recent nation-wide survey conducted by the Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB) and published by Education Watch, our school has been ranked fourth in the Eastern Zone and secured the 14th position at the national level. You would be happy to know that Loyola is the only school from Bihar & Jharkhand to enter the list. Hats off to Management, Staff and Students, past and present!

Loyoleans never rest on their laurels. They have taken the first step (61st year) towards our Platinum Jubilee with yet more vigour, enthusiasm and determination. At the national level in the prestigious Bournvita Quiz Competition, Harsh Sharma and Aakash Ghosh have won a trip to Singapore. Our senior students have clinched the college level Championship in the Computer Fair and Seminar (COFAS), held in Lucknow. Another team returned from Lucknow with the Championship Trophy in Odyssey 2007. Ishan Ahuja of Std. XII is the only student selected to represent India at the People to People Leadership Summit in Stanford University, USA. Our Ace Cricketer Varun Aaron of Std. XII has been selected by the MRF Pace Foundation, Chennai, and recently underwent training in England. In the ICSE/ISC Swimming Competition at the regional level, our students retained the overall Championship and, later, Raunak secured a Bronze at the National level. In the mega event of Horlicks Competition, Loyola was declared the overall Champions and Abhinav Jha of Std. XI will represent Jamshedpur in the Horlicks Activity Fest - “WIZ KIDS”, National Finals to be held at Bangalore. Shatrayu Mukherjee won the Senior Category Gold in the Inter Jesuit Schools Elocution Contest held at Sahibganj. In the inter-school JOGGA Chess Tournament, Loyola once again were Champions.

Loyola hosted the inter-school Computer Fest “eTRIX”, “Maths Fest” and “Symbiosis” and walked away with Championship Trophies in all the competitions. Our students were declared Champions in the Computer Fest conducted by Narbheram School too. Our “Cagers” were once again unbeatable in the Inter-School Diamond Jubilee Basketball Tournament.

I agree with the distinguished police officer Mrs. KIRAN BEDI when she says that “Parents are the original Mentors and Educators and Schools can only reinforce what is instilled at home by parents”. Discipline at Loyola is of concern to all of us. I request all parents to co-operate with the School authorities whenever called upon.

I had tried to inculcate in my B. Ed. Trainees, for over a decade that teaching is both a vocation and invocation. We want our teachers to give their best. However, it is unfortunate that economically, the teaching profession is not attractive. I look forward to your whole-hearted understanding and co-operation when we raise school fees for the session 2008-09. Our teachers’ welfare is necessary and deserving.

With Warm Greetings and regards for the Pujas and ID Mubarak to our Muslim brethren,

Yours sincerely,
Fr. Victor Misquith, S.J.
Principal
